About

Discord is a social platform that allows users to communicate through voice and video calls, text messaging, media sharing, and file sharing in both private chats and public communities known as "servers." These servers are collections of persistent chat rooms and voice channels that can be joined through invite links. Discord is available on multiple platforms including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, Linux, and web browsers. As of 2021, the platform has over 350 million registered users and 150 million monthly active users.

My first experience with Discord was on Jan 20th, 2022, just after Google laid off 12000 full time workers, including me, and one of them started an internal group to commiserate... since clearly we didn't want to do it via any Google chat system! Discord is actually really impressive... I mean complex, but impressive.
